Rick Mount: Camp Director

For Rick Mount, the best pure shooter the game has ever known, teaching shooting to younger players is an absolute natural for a shooting school. From the time he was a junior in high school coaches, parents, and players have asked him to teach them to shoot like he shoots. Since Rick basically taught himself to shoot, he simply compresses all the steps he went through into the Mount Method of Simplified Shooting Skills, a teaching technique which is simple and easily understood by all concerned.

Rick has lectured at camps and coaching clinics from coast to coast. He has beent the shooting instructor for Taylor Basketball Camps for 23 years. In that capacity he has helped thousands of young players improve their shooting skills; this also forced him to acquire the ability to quickly analyze a player's shot and prescribe 1, 2 or 3 key changes in mechanics which results in a better shot and higher shooting percentages.

Jerry Hoover: Camp Director

Jerry Hoover enters his 23rd year of directing D-1 Basketball Camps. Enrollment has grown from 80 to over 3500 campers during that period. Sessions are now held on five campuses in four mid-west states.

Jerry has been an assistant coach at Indiana State and Saint Joseph's for 14 years, giving him 35 years of coaching experience at both high school and college levels. He is also a retired Colonel (Infantry) with 32 years of combined service. These experiences are the keystone of D-1 Camp's "teaching fundamental skills so that young players have fun learning with a strong dose of discipline."

Jerry is the only coach in Indiana high school history to turn losing basketball programs into winning ones at eight schools including Ben Davis, Lake Central, North Judson, and Salem. Hoover coached high school players who received over $3,000,000 in scholarships including Randy Wittman of Indiana University.

Jerry is currently the head girl's basketball coach at Logansport High School. He can be reached via e-mail at hoov@donecamps.com.

Additional Staff

Rick Mount will select, supervise, and teach a school staff specifically selected to teach the Mount Method of Simplified Shooting Skills. The school ratio of one staff member for every nine players is the lowest in the nation and will insure individual instruction and attention for every camper.
